Since 1999, it has been Kim Taraschi's honor to teach people of all ages with varying life stories. From traveling to student's homes who are wheelchair bound or in post surgery recovery, to teaching Serene, a young child with a brainstem tumor, Pilates, dance, and movement, Kim is much more invested in teaching students how to be at home in their own body rather than teaching typical fitness routines. Seventeen years later, her mission has grown into New Movement, a studio with four instructors all equally caring and dedicated to teaching their students to simply move and feel better. Kim was introduced to the Pilates method when she was an aspiring ballet dancer. After years of teaching dance and fitness to hundreds of children and adults, Kim earned her Pilates teaching certification from Christine Wilson, Master Gyrotonic Trainer, in San Luis Obispo, California. Kim then opened her first studio, Inner Strength Pilates and Gyrotonic Studio in Los Olivos, California.
A proponent of holistic healing, she believes in the benefits of Pilates, Yoga, Restorative Exercise TM, Gyrotonic TM, massage therapy, acupuncture, midwifery, and homeopathy. Kim enjoys blending many movement education modalities which incorporate the breath and the body to create flowing movement. Her latest passions are downhill ski racing and teaching adaptive Pilates and movement to students with neurological conditions.

Kelly is a certified Balanced Body Pilates and TRX® instructor. She has a B.A. in Politics & Government from the University of Puget Sound and a J.D. from Willamette University College of Law. Kelly was introduced to Pilates in 2003 by her physical therapist as a means of rehabilitation, and she saw how powerful Pilates can be in recovering from injuries by correcting muscle imbalances and structural misalignments and learning to move from her core. Kelly’s teaching philosophy is highly influenced by her own firsthand experiences, and she believes that Pilates is accessible to everybody, no matter what physical limitations one might have.

Kelly was comprehensively certified to teach Classical Pilates in December 2014 through Six Degrees Uptown. She discovered Pilates in 2013 after years of imbalance put stress on her knees and shoulders. She is drawn to the fluidity and grace that Pilates can give you throughout your life. She earned her BA in psychology with an emphasis on body image and eating disorders from the U of M, Morris. Kelly is certified as a Thai Yoga bodyworker from Devanadi Yoga and she incorporates this grounding body work into her Pilates sessions. She leads students through the work that Joseph Pilates created whilst acknowledging and balancing the asymmetries of the body.

Gretchen fell in love with dynamic movement as a child and hasn’t stopped moving since! In 2014, she received her BFA in painting and dance from the University of Wisconsin Stevens point, where Pilates was part of the curriculum. Fascinated by the clarity and lightness that Pilates helped her to discover in her body, she developed a deep appreciation for mindful movement and eagerly began her teacher training through Balanced Body. Gretchen aims to spread the wealth of knowledge that Pilates can offer in an upbeat and personal atmosphere. Warmly welcoming people from all walks of life, she strongly believes that this versatile practice can transform anybody’s body, mind, and life as it has her own.

Johnna obtained her Associates Degree in Applied Sciences to be a Physical Therapist Assistant in 1999. Over the years she has enjoyed working in inpatient and outpatient settings that have exposed her to diverse patient populations and various diagnoses. Johnna appreciates the mind-body approach to working with patients and clients and finds that educating them about muscles and structure helps to deepen their understanding of their bodies and movement. She strives to create programs that are holistic in nature to re-educate and re-pattern muscles for optimal mechanical advantage and ease of movement. She earned her Polestar Pilates Certification with an emphasis on Rehabilitation.
